Cross Match Receives 2008 Forensic Technology
Innovation Award for L SCAN 500P Palm Scanner
Palm Beach Gardens, Fla. November 11, 2008 – Cross Match Technologies, Inc., a global provider of biometric identity solutions, announced that Cygnus Law Enforcement Group has named the L SCAN® 500P system a winner of the 2008 Innovation Award for forensic technology.
Cross Match's selection was based on input from a panel of independent judges of law enforcement professionals. Participants rated the products based on innovativeness, productivity, quality, contribution, ease of use and maintainability. The Innovation Awards recognize new products and services introduced to the law enforcement market during the year. After a thorough product evaluation, Cross Match's L SCAN 500P proved to excel in all areas.
The L SCAN 500P is the lightest and smallest palm scanner in the industry and is designed to meet the growing market demand for lightweight, flat, single platen palm systems. The L SCAN 500P is the first FBI-certified single platen device for capturing fingerprints and palm prints. The LCD display is user-friendly and provides immediate feedback making the capture sequence easier, faster and safer. This special feature provides a greater measure of safety for law enforcement officers who can capture full sets of high quality prints without losing eye contact with the person being booked or enrolled. An important tool in criminal investigations and forensic analysis, the L SCAN 500P captures forensic quality images that comply with the FBI Image Quality Specification as defined in Appendix F of the EFTS. Cross Match's patented auto capture technology enables users to obtain the highest quality single capture of upper, lower and writer's palm images, each in less than one second.
