Cross Match Launches Multimodal Platform

SEEK® facilitates rapid fingerprint, iris and facial image capture for ABIS

January 19, 2010 – Cross Match Technologies, Inc., a global provider of biometric identity solutions introduces a handheld multimodal identification and enrollment platform, SEEK® (Secure Electronic Enrollment Kit).

Cross Match’s SEEK is a culmination of advanced biometric capture technologies and analysis algorithms. The rugged, man-portable platform combines forensic-quality fingerprint capture and rapid dual iris scanning technology. SEEK is a comprehensive identification and enrollment platform designed for field use by law enforcement, first responders and the U.S. government for critical border protection and military applications. The compact solution makes it quick and easy for special operations teams to identify and verify subjects’ identities.

SEEK is the first device to be FBI certified in the Mobile ID Appendix F SAP 45 category—supporting rapid image capture. “SEEK is one of the most advanced multimodal solutions in the market,” states Cross Match President and CEO, Jim Grau. “It represents the best of our biometric technologies in a sleek, portable solution. And with large-format, optical fingerprint capture, SEEK is ideal for use in high-risk environments.”

The platform automatically captures and formats standards-based flat and rolled fingerprints, iris and facial images for enrollment into AFIS databases, including the DoD Automated Biometric Identification System (ABIS). The versatile system leverages an on-board 40,000-person watch list, which can easily be updated for biometric data comparison. Built-in wireless networking allows field personnel to access remote databases, such as ABIS, for rapid identification checks. Additionally, SEEK is one of the few multimodal workstations that is fully operational in bright sunlight, making it convenient to use in harsh, desert climates.

Cross Match has received notification from the U.S. Naval Criminal Investigative Service (NCIS) that SEEK addresses the current NCIS requirements for portable biometrics devices. The organization expects that SEEK will meet future biometric collection needs as well.

Now available to integrators, SEEK provides a Windows XP-based development platform for software applications. The package is complete with SDKs and drivers for fingerprint, facial image and iris image (FFI) capture. Also included are drivers for SEEK’s internal GPS, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth wireless communications, and Smart Battery interface.

SEEK will be shown in the United States at the National Defense Industrial Association (NDIA) Conference in Arlington, Virginia on January 20-21.
